This event was held in Rapid City, SD, in the Best Western Ramkota Convention Center at 6PM MST, on April 21st, 2017.
In Dr. White's cross examination of Bro. Joe Ventilacion on 2 Peter 1:1, 11
Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:1b: "our God and Savior Jesus Christ
τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ σωτῆρος Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ
2 Peter 1:11b "our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"
τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν καὶ σωτῆρος Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ
Dr. White Argument If both "Lord" and "Savior" apply to one person, the Son, in v.11 then "God" and "Savior" must also refer to one person, the Son.
and Bro. Joe Ventilacion response,
"We do not base. we do not base our doctrine or our teaching in the Church of Christ simply by means of grammar"
Brother Joe said so for you to understand this - 1st Corinthians 2:13 says you have to "compare spiritual things with spiritual" you do not make a theology on one single verse.
Let's Compare it Spiritually:
👉Peter concludes: he made throughout the speech: 'God' has made Jesus is Lord and Christ (Acts 2:36), and Savior (Acts 5:31)
👉 2 Peter 1:2
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
In 2 Peter 1:2 who is the "God" in this verse? Let us answer it based on 1 Cor 2:13 "compare spiritual things with spiritual"
Apostle Paul and other apostles begins each of their letters with some variation of the greeting “grace and peace.” :
2 Jn 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
1Co 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Co 1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Gal 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Eph 1:2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Php 1:2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Every apostles letters begins, greeting “grace and peace” and the God always refers to God the Father
therefore 2 Peter 1:1b, 2: "our God and Savior Jesus Christ" - the 'God' refers to God the Father
Every apostles have perfectly united in mind and thought - even in their letters & greetings
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
